Sir Wilmot Hudson Fysjh was a famous Australian aviator, soldier and businessman. Born in Tasmania 7 January 1895, Fysh was a soldier in the First World War and served in the Australian Light Horse Brigade as a Lieutenant. He saw active service at Gallipoli and in Palestine. He later transferred into the Australian Flying Corps as a gunner and was awarded the Air Force Cross after the war for services to aerial warfare.
Fysh was one of the founders of Quantas in 1920. He wrote books on the development of Qiantas, and authored a trilogy of his own memoirs which were critically acclaimed and compared to the writings of Winston Churchill. His co-founders of Quantas were also remembered by having aircraft named after them , Airbus A380s VH-OQC namd after Paul McGinness and VH-OQD after Sir Fergus McMaster.
