The Eurofighter Typhoon is in service with seven nations: United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Spain, Saudi Arabia, Oman and Austria. It has been ordered by Kuwait and Qatar. The Typhoon is a single-seat, multi-role fighter aircraft with two-seat trainer versions. It was developed from the British Aerospace EAP.

The Eurofighter Typhoon is a fourth generation, highly agile multi-role combat aircraft. With full HOTAS (Hands-On Throttle And Stick) controls, Helmet Equipment Assembly (HEA) with the advanced cockpit developed in the BAe EAP aircraft, the aircraft is very modern and is operated by the RAF and other air forces. It can be deployed on the full spectrum of modern air operations, from high-intensity conflict, peacekeeping, counter-revolutionary warfare support operations, ground attack and reconnaissance, to interdiction / Quick Reaction Alert (QRA) in the air policing role. Typhoons have operated in support of NATO peacekeeping and stabilisation missions in the Baltic and Black Sea areas.

The RAF operates several squadrons of Typhoons from RAF Lossiemouth in Scotland and RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire, from which bases the QRA (North) and QRA (South) missions are flown. Coningsby is also host to 29 Sqn RAF which is the Typhoon training squadron.
